- For Math homework, please do the remainder of the lessons in Unit 5.
- MAP testing will be coming up again in the next month or so. We need to focus on English in particular. I am trying to focus on particular aspects such as; punctuation, capitalization, verbs, nouns and adjectives. Here is a website that is a link to others that will help children understand more about these parts of English.
- Keep practicing reading and all levels of the sight words.
January, 15th.
- Sport's day will be on Tuesday, Febuary 3rd. The class colour for that day is blue (as in spiderman blue).
- Please keep reviewing the sight words with your child and practicing reading every night.
- Thank you to everyone for donating to the red crescent appeal. We are no longer accepting donations.
- The unit 5 math test is not too far away. We are currently looking at 2-D and 3-D shapes, types of lines and next week we will be discussing symmetry and pyramids. You can find lots of helpful websites here for games etc..
November, 23rd.
- Spelling and math test this Wednesday instead of Thursday.
- Thursday is National Day celebration in the school.
- Please practice the math facts. This week they are quite difficult.
- Keep practicing reading every night-don't forget about asking questions about the story to improve their comprehension.
- They will be having their summative assessment in their UOI soon. Talk to your child about important historical events and the impact they had on the UAE.
- The trip to the Heritage Village was nice. I hoped they learned something new about their history.
November, 19th.
- Field trip to the heritage village tomorrow. Students wear their full uniforms. Make sure that they have a water bottle. Students who have not paid to go on the trip will stay with another teacher for the duration.
- Next Thursday is National Day celebrations. Information will be soon posted on the Weebly main page, so keep an eye on it.

- Start of Unit 4 in Math this week. Homework will be posted as soon as possible.

- Work on math facts adding three (+3). If they know their addition math facts then they should know the subtraction math facts for that sum- fact families.

- Some children are still struggling with American money you can find some games online. This one is good for getting used to the coins and what they are worth. This is a great website for different money games.

- Do some reading every night.
- History impacts who we are today- get your child to talk to anyone you know about life in the past. You might remember how different things were. Help them find out about transport, homes, school etc..

- Everyone did a good job on their math test but some of us still need to learn math facts. I will send home an addition fact chart with each child. Next week I start testing them on adding 2 as far as 12.
- Please look at changes to assessment and the parent conference here.
- Please look at my schedule above and email me your top 3 times that you could come.
- Next week we will be looking at place value (tens and ones), time and money in Math.

- A good website for adding up American money can be found here. They are doing their MAP tests over the next couple of weeks and they need to know American money.
- Our attitude for this week is empathy. Talk about this with your child.

- We are in the middle of writing a persuasive letter to each parent trying to get what we want using our persuasion.

- This week we are working on lots of addition and subtraction. Here is a fun game that practices math facts.
- Please keep practicing reading every night. Don't forget to ask lots of questions to improve comprehension and sign the log.
- We have started persuasive writing. Today we read the story Click Clack Moo Cows that Type to initiate discussion about how the cows changed the farmer's mind.
- Tomorrow is healthy eating day so children can wear the colour of the fruit or vegetable they have in their lunchbox.
- This week our learner profile attribute is open-minded which is about accepting other people that are different to you and how they might have different opinions or beliefs.

- We are starting our next Unit of Inquiry next week: History impacts who we are today.

- This week in Math we have been concentrating on doubles, using 10 as a shortcut to adding 9 and using our doubles to figure out other math facts.
- In writing we have been writing sentences with our sentence words and doing recount writing.

It doesn't take long, just whizz through it. I will also be sending home a list of the words for the children to read and self-check how many words they can say.

Don't forget tomorrow is the math and spelling test. Our goal is for all the children to know their math facts automatically and not have to count on their fingers. They can do it with lots of practice.
